In 2009, Dominic released an exciting new album for piano trio, featuring jazz improvisations on nursery rhyme themes. Mark Hodgson (double bass) and Stephen Keogh (drums) completed the line-up. Songs We Heard brought a unique jazz treatment to familiar tunes such as 'Frere Jacques', 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star' and 'Three Blind Mice', as well as less familiar children's songs from across the globe.
The musical language of Songs We Heard bridges the divide between two different sound-worlds; whilst Dominic's pianistic touch and melodic vocabulary are influenced by his background as a classical pianist, his harmonic language, improvisational approach and choice of instrumentation bring a strong jazz element.
Live performances have included evenings at the famous Soho jazz clubs, Ronnie Scott's and Pizza Express Dean Street, as well as a concert performance with string orchestra at St James' Piccadilly, London.

**** "Dominic Alldis plays piano with a light, elegant touch and his imaginative arrangements of such traditional tunes for tots as The Grand Old Duke Of York and Frere Jacques render the songs fresh and contemporary, with a possible hint of the influence of Dave Grusin..."
