In 2009 Dominic premiered his jazz arrangements of nursery rhymes for piano trio and string orchestra at St. James's Piccadilly. This evening he will perform them again with the Amersham Festival Orchestra.

    This evening’s concert will see the launch of a new musical ensemble for London, The Canzona Chamber Orchestra.  Founded by the jazz pianist, conductor and educator Dominic Alldis, the orchestra will programme both classical repertoire and cross-over projects with leading jazz musicians.

    Their first programme at St. James’s Piccadilly will feature two masterpieces of the string repertoire: Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Britten’s Simple Symphony.  This will be followed by pieces from Dominic’s latest piano trio album Songs We Heard – jazz improvisations on nursery rhymes.  He will be accompanied on the piano by Andrew Cleyndert (double-bass), Martin France (drums) and the Canzona Chamber Orchestra.  The orchestra will be led by Fenella Humphries.
